Who is RENEX?
RENEX is a Namibian-based private renewable energy trader, which specialises in demand-side aggregation of contestable customers to improve their ability and willingness to trade electricity on the competitive power markets.
RENEX is currently the only Namibian company recognised as a registrant and participant with the I-REC standards organisation, which places the company in a unique position to register generation assets and trade Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) across the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).
Why RENEX?
Large Power Users want to take advantage of the competitive electricity tariffs unlocked by the Modified-Single Buyer Market Framework, but they lack the technical and financial resources required to overcome the barriers preventing them from participating in the market.
Additionally, the Larger Power Users are interested in tracking the provenance of the electricity they consume but have no way of accounting for how much of it is sourced from low-carbon sources.
Our solution revolves around a renewable energy trading platform that promotes the ability to trade between groups of Large Power Users, Independent Power Producers, and their Financiers by improving off-taker bankability, mitigating the inherent risks associated with Power Purchase Agreements, and facilitating trading of low-carbon power and renewable energy certificates.
